ALT ROCK BAND KNIGHTLIFE RELEASE NEW LP "FOREVER FIGHT"
PHILADELPHIA, PA | OCTOBER 26, 2018 - Philadelphia alt rock band Knightlife have released their new LP "Forever Fight," out on all digital platforms NOW. A cool combination of classic rock influences and modern alternative, Knightlife brings thick vocal textures and lyrical depth to the mix on "Forever Fight." Exploring themes of self-confidence ("Tangerines"), premature loss ("Behind The Past"), and the upkeep of relationships ("Chasin' The Times"), Knightlife shows depth and insight far behind their years. About the album, the band states: Knightlife would like to make a point of two listening guides on this album. First, there are many illusions made to night and night time activities. In many ways that manifests in the band’s culture. But, it’d be a mistake to not see the tongue and cheekiness of the band being named “‘knight’life” and the obsession with night. In addition the group has become avid fans of albums, specifically from classic rock. There are illusions to such greats as Fleetwood Mac, Joe Walsh, Bruce Springsteen, David Bowie, The Cars, and more. A lot of the sounds are also influenced by our favorite alternative artists (Weezer, RHCP, Oasis) and popular culture art forms (video games, TV). We strove to create something that people could find depth within and subsequently navigate that depth on their own terms. Knightlife is an alternative-rock band from Philadelphia. There are five members of the band. Bruce, Rich, and Aaron are the creative forces and performing artists on “Forever Fight”, Knightlife’s debut LP. Anthony and Blaine are live musicians, and whether it is gang vocals or small guitar licks they have influence on studio projects and the band as a whole. Bruce and Rich have been writing songs together for upwards of five years; mutually experiencing changes in life has benefitted their sound, meaningfulness, and direction. Themes of identity and self-actualization run rapid on their debut. When the duo met Aaron his role was only to be Knightlife’s studio engineer and producer. After the first couple of sessions Aaron began to take on a larger commitment to the group becoming their singer and studio drummer. Aaron also offered a wealth of experience and insight into the producing and recording, that at the time Bruce and Rich were lacking. The trio strove to compose songs that explore interpersonal relationships and coming of age developments during those early 20’s parts of life. During the recording process of “Forever Fight” Knightlife became consumed by setting a mature sound as their precedent. The entirety of the record was written and recorded at Aaron’s home studio, located in Wallingford PA. Knightlife’s life-span is unbound. Knightlife's new LP "Forever Fight" is available on all digital platforms NOW. ATLANTA, GA | OCTOBER 26TH, 2018 - Atlanta gothic pop/rock and roll band Sarah And The Safe Word have released their new EP, "Red Hot & Holy," out on all digital platforms NOW. The lead single (and title track) was released on Sept 21, and offers up an ambitious combination of gothicism, dark pop, and hints of gospel. Sarah And The Safe Word introduce a wide variety of instruments in their twist on modern rock, including those such as violins and double keyboards, morphing together to create a dynamic listening experience. "Red Hot & Holy" is crucial to the band's continuous growth, offering up a tracklist of songs that are a full-fledged representation of exactly what they can offer as a 7-piece. Sarah And The Safe Word is cinematic, sensual, and simply put, talented. The band will celebrate the release of "Red Hot & Holy" with a free Halloween Ball in Marietta, GA TOMORROW (click for details). About the EP, member Kienan states:" Red Hot & Holy is the first Sarah & the Safe Word record to make full use of all 7 of us. We collaborated on a level we never have before, and I think everyone’s individual voice can be heard in each song—sometimes literally, since almost everyone in the band is a singer too. A lot of records can start feeling like the same song over and over, so we tried very hard to make each song its own original, cinematic world.” Since taking Atlanta by storm in 2017 with the release of their debut full-length Strange Doings in the Night, Sarah & the Safe Word has been up to no good. After playing the Vans Warped Tour in 2017 at the personal request of founder Kevin Lyman, guest appearing on the CW show The Originals, opening for national touring acts like Motionless in White, booking independent tours across the United States, and headlining their own sold-out Atlanta shows, this 7-piece group has been brewing up something sinister in their basement. Now, they’re prepared to unleash their melodically macabre experiment onto an unsuspecting music scene. Sarah & the Safe Word are a band used to turning “What the fuck is this" into “This is fucking awesome.” Their queer and POC-positive lineup also means that Sarah and the Safe Word are a band for everybody, and they believe strongly that their shows should remain a safe, inclusive space for anyone who attends. Their new EP Red Hot & Holy fulfills the promise only hinted at by previous releases. Each song is an explosive cinematic adventure, careening from breakneck demon-powered race .cars (“Formula 666”), to swashbuckling pirate battles on the open sea (“Dead Girls Tell No Tales”), and back down home to the swampy, Southern marshes of revenge (“Lit Cigarette”). With a sound that speaks nostalgically of days gone by and a future that never came, Sarah & the Safe Word can safely guarantee a live experience like no other. They enthusiastically encourage all listeners, young and old, to prepare themselves for cabaret, vaudevillian antics, Southern gothicism, demented gospel, dark pop, and—of course—blistering rock and roll. The full EP "Red Hot & Holy" is available on all digital platforms NOW. Not to mention we wanted to give everyone a little taste of some of the type of emotion and the thought process behind our new songs. With this new record we really wanted to write and think about things from a different perspective than what most people tend to. Do you think “When I’m Lonely” is the best representation of the band’s current sound? I wouldnt say its the best representation of the bands current sound, but its a important part of the sound. We have grown musically and the one thing we wanted was for everything to sound cohesive but each song to still have its own identity! ‘When I’m Lonely’ is just the tip of the iceberg for our new sound in my opinion. What was the writing process like for the track? It was a lot of fun and just very chill. When we went into the studio in each step of this songs creation it was always a very chill vibe. The initial writing of the song with Zane and Wes of The Stu in Greensboro, NC was cool because i felt like this was the first song that truly helped me find my true voice something that i can say is mine! What do you want people to take away from “When I’m Lonely”? You know that’s a hard question to answer. I guess this big thing would be that we all go through different stages in life, whether its fighting love over lust, or just being able to admit that we are lonely or scared. Its about really admitting to yourself and being open about how you feel. I feel like today so many people have become closed off to sharing true emotion or fears because we want to maintain a hard exterior and appear stronger than we are. Just don’t be afraid to fight these battles head on. Will there be any touring to support your new releases? As of now we are looking to maybe hit the surrounding areas on some weekend runs. But no big touring plans at the moment as we are preparing to release more music. But definitely in the summer! Please include all listening and social links! www.facebook.com/mknlyofficial Instagram- @mknlyofficial Twitter - @mknlyofficial youtube.com/mknlyofficial Why was “White Rabbit” chosen as your new single out of any other track you’ve recorded? It was one of the first songs we wrote and completed that embodied our new sound. We wanted to put out 3 singles before the year was over just to give our fans something to jam to while we complete the rest of the album. You’ve noted a change in genre. What sparked this change? Was it natural? I'd say it was very natural. If you ask anyone that's ever been in a band what it's like to get 4-5 people's schedules to line up for a weekly rehearsal or to get that many people to agree on something, it's near impossible- especially if everyone doesn't have the same end goal. So over the past few years we've parted ways with a few people and the 2 of us are all that's left. It's pretty hard to get a full rock sound with 2 people, so naturally we became more electronic, which I feel has made our sound more unique. Do you feel “White Rabbit” is the best representation of the updated sound? Our new sound has a few different sides to it. All the songs aren't going to sound the same, because we get bored pretty easily, but “White Rabbit” is a good medium representation of our sound. Some of it is energetic and dancy, some of it a bit more rock n’ roll, and some of it is dark and borderline emo haha. Will your 2019 album fully showcase this genre shift? 100%. It will be unlike anything you've heard before. Now that “White Rabbit” is released, do you plan on touring at all? We would love to! We've talked about it before and we are ready to get up and go if the opportunity presents itself. “Red Hot & Holy” was the first single released off of this record. Why was that song chosen?
It’s been a over a year since we released original material, and since “Red Hot & Holy” was actually the most recently written song for the EP, we thought it would serve as the best update on where our sound is now, who we are now, and reintroduce us with a powerful message. The music video is quite beautifully extravagant. How did the concept and imagery come about? Several folks in our band are visual artists as well as musicians, so after we struck upon the idea of representing the seven of us as the Seven Deadly Sins—one of several “seven” based ideas that may show up later—we brainstormed what imagery would represent modern takes on those sins and were able to come up with some really strong visuals thanks to everyone’s additional expertise. We really wanted to avoid anything too traditional, but also be evocative, so we tried to lean into our characters as much as possible. Your upcoming EP is also titled the same. Which song do you think best represents your sound as a whole? As you can imagine, it’s hard to just pick one song since we feel our sound has so many facets to it, but I would suggest that “Formula 666” has all the features of the personality of what makes Sarah & the Safe Word unique. It has beautiful string and vocal harmonies, powerful screams, a little bit of camp because we don’t take ourselves too seriously, some supernatural aspects to the lyrics, and it’s heavy as shit. Will there be any other music videos released off of this record? We don’t currently have any plans, but we’d love to put together something really epic for “Dead Girls Tell No Tales” if we can find someone willing to work with our budget. It’s a song that deserves full Hollywood treatment. The question ‘how would you describe your sound’ is so vague. What are three adjectives that define Sarah And The Safe Word? Theatrical, heavy, and playful. Please include all socials and listening links! I THE VICTOR STUNS IN NEW SINGLE "TONGUE & STUTTER"
ATLANTA, GA | OCTOBER 19TH, 2018 - Atlanta-based alternative pop (self proclaimed posi-rap) project I The Victor have released a new single, titled "Tongue & Stutter," out on all digital platforms NOW. Along with the music video, I The Victor's Rebecca Ramos sparkles in "Tongue & Stutter," a track that uncovers small self-realizations amidst a personal sabbatical from the stressors of social media. The familiar elements of rap and rhythmic kaleidoscope pop are still very much present, but Ramos is back with perhaps more wisdom than in prior releases. "Tongue & Stutter" is self-aware, personal and a beautiful representation of where I The Victor is headed. "About the single, Ramos states: Tongue & Stutter is about individuality, really. We’ve been playing it live for a little bit and I always sum it up as a song about growth and making the intentional decision to be who you are and not be afraid of some of the risks that may come with that. I’ve grown so much since past ITV songs, I just wanted to write about not being as afraid to dive into the unknown, especially if the driving force is being more free and better off for it. There are dozens of little moments in the lyrics that mean the world to me or that exemplify little breakthroughs — not trusting a phone is in reference to my newfound disregard for social media and the numbers game, getting out of ‘the woods’ and into my own life instead of following people’s opinions and living for others, etc. I feel like Tongue & Stutter really led me through some growth I didn’t realize I needed; each section is it’s own little betterment of my headspace and that’s why I’m so excited to have it lead off this whole new era for I The Victor. I The Victor hit the ground running in 2018 with a co-headlining tour with alt-rockers The Orphan The Poet, direct support shows with Vinyl Theatre and Vesperteen, a DIY west coast tour, and a handful of slots on Vans Warped Tour this past July. The solo project is the brainchild of Atlanta’s Rebecca Ramos who co-produced the upcoming single “Tongue & Stutter” in addition to directing, writing and editing the music video. The track is the lead of three singles and videos to precede a new EP in early 2019. With new music and more touring ramping up, the self-proclaimed 'positivity project' is on pace to put themselves on everyone's map and keep bringing songs about hope everywhere they can this year. NC, USA | OCTOBER 19TH, 2018 - 4-piece alternative rock band MKNLY have released their brand new single, "When I'm Lonely," out on all digital platforms NOW. Bridging the gap between alternative and pop, MKNLY's unique sound combines rhythmic guitars, radio-friendly hooks, and colorful lyricism. "When I'm Lonely" is the first look into their upcoming EP, due out later this year. After spending a year preparing for their upcoming release, MKNLY aims to showcase a more vulnerable side to their sound. About the single, the band states:
"“When I'm Lonely” is the title track for our upcoming EP release. This song truly encompasses the emotions of the one night stand mentality. Scared to be alone but yet at the same time completely scared to love or be with someone." MKNLY is a four-piece alternative/pop rock band from North Carolina consisting of Tristan Briza (guitar), Josh Wicker (guitar), Benjamin Green (vocals), and Anthony Hamilton (drums). The group was originally formed in summer of 2017 directly following their debut EP “ Something To Stand Behind” which launched them onto the scene. It wasn’t long until they found themselves opening for national acts such as Emarosa, and The Spill Canvas. The release gave them a great start but they felt like they didn’t have a solidified sound they wanted. After working with producers Wes Lauterbach and Zane Frye the group was able to find themselves a great solid and solid songs which would be the basis for their second release. MKNLY then recording their second EP with Chris Piquette of No Boundaries Studios in Rhode Island. MKNLY plans to release their newest single “When I’m Lonely” in mid-October, and a five song EP in the winter. With a combination of rhythmic guitar, catchy melodies, and expressive lyrics, MKNLY offers a unique sound that bridges the gap between alternative rock and pop. Singer Benjamins strong lyricism drawn from personal life struggles, depression, and of course relationships to find a sense of therapeutic release. A cool combination of classic rock influences and modern alternative, Knightlife brings thick vocal textures and lyrical depth to the mix on "Forever Fight." About the album, the band states: "We feel like we captured a sound on our debut LP. A lot of the early work featured Aaron producing so many vocal harmonies (Tangerines, Molly Ringwald, Long Way Down) that the technique became a style and a point of sound production for the band. We harnessed Aaron ability to vocally create a thick and wide texture, that before his incorporation may have been lacking." Knightlife is an alternative-rock band from Philadelphia. There are five members of the band. Bruce, Rich, and Aaron are the creative forces and performing artists on “Forever Fight”, Knightlife’s debut LP. Thanks for chatting with us! How does “I Loved You, Once” differ from any other releases you have been a part of creatively?
This single is much different from any other music I have released. The first batch of songs I released have a chill indie-rock vibe mixed with some pop. It was mostly just guitars, drums, vocals, and that's it. I feel experimenting with more synths and r&b production really helped evolve my writing ability and gave me more of a unique sound that I feel at home with. “I Loved You, Once” is the first song I wrote that I feel really described me as an artist. It was a natural writing process where I never felt like I was stuck. I knew exactly what I wanted and how I wanted it to sound and that was a surreal feeling for me. What was the creative process like to write this single? I wrote ‘I Loved You, Once’ during the early months of 2018. I wrote the lyrics to this song in the middle of a snowy night at the lake near my house. I feel I write most of my best work there, there’s a certain sense of peace and serenity I feel there. I was in a vulnerable state of mind where I was still in love with a person but I knew things weren't going to work out so I wanted to hate them so badly. It’s essentially about feeling lost, then you stumble into this person that makes you feel complete. How beautiful it feels at that moment, then the next it’s over and you feel like you're back to where you started. I feel the musical composition displays this feeling beautifully. There’s a sense of desperation and love that flows throughout the song into the outro. Then the saxophone takes over and you really feel those emotions, but I feel it gives the listener a sense of hope. This song means a lot to me so I also wanted to create a video that portrayed that emotion in a visual form. This song has a lot of emotion flowing through it so I wanted to show the emotions I felt in visual form as well. In terms of production on the track, what was new to you? I had never experimented with elements of electro-pop or R&B before so it was like a breath of fresh air to start producing music of this genre. I gain a lot of inspiration and write mostly from life experiences which is where “I Loved You, Once” stems from. I was going through a tough breakup at the time of writing this song and that was when I realized I wanted to try something different. I wanted to channel all my emotions into this track as a way of letting go. I wanted to produce a song that's upbeat and blissful sounding that I feel inspires hope in the listener. Most of my other songs are more downbeat and slow so I really wanted to change the music up. I also wanted to incorporate catchy melodies and lyrics anyone can relate to. Writing this song stretched my musical vision as a solo artist and helped in opening my eyes to what I could create with music. Do you feel this single best represents your artistry? Absolutely. When I first wrote “I Loved You, Once” it was like something in me clicked. It proved to myself that I can write a song I am fully proud of and think people will enjoy by myself. I fell in love with the genre and it was the first time I felt at home with the music I wrote. “I Loved You, Once” is the first of many, and I can’t wait to release the new songs as well as the stories behind them. Now that the single is out, you’re about to release the music video for it. Were you involved in putting together the video’s treatment? Did you have a clear-cut vision in mind for it? I worked with Nick Valaskatgis (Crashland Pictures) on the video for this song. I had a certain vision for the video I explained to him and he was able to take that vision and really help bring it to life. The video is set in the theme of a summer breakup. He did an incredible job of taking the emotions of the song and giving them a face. It was awesome to work with someone who had a different perspective on the song as well as someone who could take my visions and enhance them with his ideas. There are beautiful, colorful scenes filled with life that resemble the life of the relationship. Then there are more blue overcast scenes that represent the hardships in the relationship. I feel the visuals help express the song beautifully and can't wait to share it with everyone. What is coming next? I have a lot I want to accomplish before the end of the year. My main focus for the near future is to start booking more shows, write more material, set a release date for a new single, and work more with Chris Curran of Reclaim Music Group (PVRIS, The Dangerous Summer, Set If Off) on more songs. As of right now, I think I will be working towards a new EP for the spring of 2019. I don’t have any dates for new releases booked but here are the dates of my confirmed events! Right now I have two shows lined up: 11/15/18 @ Starlite (Southbridge, MA) https://www.facebook.com/events/724173617930421/?notif_t=plan_user_invited¬if_id=1538060086582133 12/7/18 @ Ralph’s Rock Diner (Worcester, MA) https://www.facebook.com/events/1966634580304361/ Radio: I also will be appearing on the Dale LePage Radio Show with Andrea Castinetti on 10/15/18 at 1 PM! https://www.facebook.com/DaleLePageRadio/ For updates on anything more about me you can subscribe to my website https://www.hazelbloomofficial.com/ or follow me on social media! Rebranded with an electronic edge, the single is the first taste of their upcoming 2019 album "Hideko." Having not released music in 2 years, the album's first single was dropped long before Travelers prompted a switch in sound. Wanting to give listeners a new look at their bubblegum-electric tone, "White Rabbit" is a pristine example of what's to come in the new year. "About the single, the band states: “White Rabbit” is the second single off of our upcoming album called “Hideko”. Tom says, “This track is about finding your purpose, or chasing your “white rabbit” haha. Most of us are unsure of what our purpose in life is, we doubt a LOT, we don’t believe we’re capable of chasing our dreams. This song is about someone that gave me confidence in myself. I told them again and again, “I’m not the one you need”, but they kept saying, “I don’t care” and you’ll hear that reoccurring line in the song. Travelers is an electronic alt-rock duo from Virginia Beach, VA. Made up of members Tom Kearns (vocals, guitar, percussion) and Brandon Jenkins (drums), the duo’s anthemic, arena-esque sound was not part of their origin. The natural progression developed from their incarnation in 2015, but through lineup changes, Travelers opted to stray away from their organic rock roots. Evolving into a heavily produced, vocal-layered, rich, percussive electro-rock duo, Travelers’ new single, “White Rabbit” is the first showing of what they have been exploring, and is perhaps the clearest offering of the revamped Travelers. Produced by Ben Mekkes, listeners get a nice taste of what their 2019 album will contain - synth pop-laden choruses, chanty verses, and bubblegum electric hooks, without straying too far off the alternative path.
