Thanks for chatting with us! How does it feel to have “Always Restart” out for others to hear?
It feels really good we spent a lot of time on these songs, maybe too much time? So to finally have it out for people to hear and give feedback feels like the beginning of the next chapter. It’ll be time to do it all over again soon! How has your sound evolved from your last record to “Always Restart”? I’d say we really went in the direction of less is more for these newest songs. On our last EP if felt like we were trying to pull out all the bells and whistles at every turn. Adding in a lot of synth and extra instruments and so on. Whereas with these new songs it’s more of just us as a band. No extra icing but still tasteful. Do you think this single is the strongest representation of where The Bad Bees are currently? I’d say yes! The song has a lot of high energy which means a lot to us as far as our sound. Structure and writing wise I’d say this is our best foot forward to date. Why was this song chosen to as a single, as opposed to any other songs you may have recently written or recorded? This one really takes you somewhere as a listener. It's easy to listen to structure wise and has a very upbeat hook. Plus the message is very positive, we want people to know we are here to help. By rocking your faces with our music. Will you be releasing any more music in 2019? What can listeners expect? We have two more singles we plan on putting out by the end of 2019. Then we’re planning on getting right back into the studio sometime before the end of winter to start the cycle all over again. If you could describe The Bad Bees sound in just three words for any new listeners, what would those words be? How does your upcoming single “Halo” differ from your last release as QU!ET? (Juli): It’s definitely a harder and heavier song, a lot more fast paced. The last two releases we’ve done have been a little bit lighter in feel, but with this song we’re going back to more of how we were when first started the band. You recently underwent a rebrand. How did your last branding differ from QU!ET? (AJay): Our previous name was Michael’s last name, since he started it as a solo project before Juli and AJay came on board. After being together for two years, everything became more collaborative and we decided to change our band name to better reflect who we are as a band. What are some of your goals with the release of “Halo”? (Michael): We’re hoping to reach a larger audience this time and expand off of Long Island. Our music has developed a lot this year and its made us more confident in pushing harder to reach people who might like what we do. What inspired the lyrical content of the single? Is it based around a personal experience? (AJay): Yes, the lyrics for Halo were based on observations that I made of people who were in abusive relationships, as well as drawing from my own experiences of being in that type of relationship and how tired I was of it all. You’re with someone who you love, but they treat you like garbage, manipulating you, hurting and sabotaging you, promising that they won’t do it again and that they’ll change but it just keeps happening over and over. What is the overall message QU!ET wishes to send to listeners through “Halo”? (AJay): We’re hoping to show those people who are currently in an abusive relationship that they aren’t alone, that they are not the only one’s who’ve experienced it, and they don’t have to stay. At the same time, we want people who haven’t experienced anything like this to keep in mind that this is an issue, and to just stay alert and recognize when someone close to you is in need of help. There are many organizations out there that are dedicated to helping someone escape from situations like these, and we urge anyone who needs help to seek it out because everyone deserves to live a happy, and a safe life. Will this be part of a larger body of work in the future? (Michael): It’s hard to say at this point. Lately we’ve just been doing what feels right for the band at any given time. If we work on a record in the future, and it calls for the song to be there, it could show up, we’ll see! Please list all social media and listening links. Thank you! Esposito PHILADELPHIA, PA | OCTOBER 18TH, 2019 - Philadelphia-based indie rock band The Bad Bees have released their new EP "The Time It Takes," out on all digital platforms NOW. Originally introduced by their most recent single "Always Restart," the 4-track EP is is a clear representation of growth and evolution. Although a short collection, the songs pack a powerful punch, maintaining their familiar quirky and distinctive indie rock characteristics. "The Time It Takes" is a well-polished and mature showing of where The Bad Bees are headed. The Bad Bees are a group of friends that clambered out of the primordial soup of their local scene. After a summer spent in a smokey basement jamming with a larger group of musicians, the four of them banded together and started playing gigs. Drawing on their diverse shared influences, from Mars Volta to Fleet Foxes, they spent the next few years between studios and stages forming their sound. The Bad Bees debuted their first EP Fast Paced Space in 2016. The spaced-out, progressive sound earned them quick success when their music video for 'Starcrushed' found popularity and earned them a spot playing an iHeart Radio show with Misterwives at Festival Pier, in Philadelphia. They followed it up in 2017 with another set of songs called Big Pretty, which they took on tour in the summer of 2018. Now, they're ready to unleash their newest EP: The Time It Takes. With their most honest and vibrant work yet, The Bad Bees have evolved into a dynamic wall of sound. This may not be their final form, but they’re excited to show it off. Their new EP "The Time It Takes" is available on all digital platforms NOW. Following “Neptune,” their most recent single release, “Oslo” captures the band’s explosive live energy, having shared the stage with national touring acts such as Hands Like Houses and Eidola. Transcending listeners into a world of post hardcore, progressive, and alternative rock elements, Cascadent is poised to capture the ears of new listeners with the release of "Oslo". Cascadent is a five-piece alternative/progressive rock band from Atlanta, Georgia consisting of Jonathan Lee (guitar), Samuel Freeman (drums), Jonah Volk (guitar), Brad Pallone (vocals) and John Samuel Mecum aka Jam (bass). The band’s debut single, “Aces Over Kings”, featuring prior vocalist Johnny Hendrix, was released in the Summer of 2017. After a year together, Hendrix and Cascadent announced they would be separating. In March of 2019, Cascadent released two singles, “Into the Mirror” and “The In-Between” featuring current vocalist Brad Pallone. Throughout 2019, Cascadent has toured across the southeast and opened for bands such as Makari and Hands Like Houses." The perfect storm of intricate guitar melodies, hard-hitting rhythm, and catchy melodies, presented by Cascadent are complemented by their pulse-pounding kinetic live performance. They have performed with national touring acts such as Makari, Eidola, and Hands Like Houses. We wanted our first release following our EP to be about something important to us. “How Does It Feel?” is about not feeling okay and feeling like you’re the only one in the entire world who feels that way. It’s about a desperation to feel like someone else understands what you’re going through, or has been through it in the past, so there’s hope that you will, too. How would you describe the song in three words to new listeners? Honest, driven, and emotional. Will “How Does It Feel?” be part of a larger body of work, or do you plan on keeping this a stand alone single? Well, without getting too ahead of ourselves… "How Does It Feel?" will almost definitely be part of something bigger. But for now, we don't want to give anything away! How does the Atlanta music scene impact your music, if at all? To be honest, the Atlanta scene hasn't had a ton of influence on the way our music sounds! We're definitely different from a lot of other local bands we know - which isn't a bad thing! However, we all cut our teeth in past bands playing at local venues like The Masquerade and The Drunken Unicorn, so we owe a lot of amazing shows and learning experiences to the Atlanta scene and we definitely wouldn't have all met one another without it! What are some of the bigger picture goals for Safety Net? Right now we're focused on getting our music heard by a wider audience, but in the future what we would really love more than anything is to be able to make music our full-time jobs. Do you think “How Does It Feel” best represents where Safety Net is currently in 2019? The new single definitely shows how we've grown as musicians and songwriters over the past year. It also holds true to our overarching mission to make music about things that we feel are important and write songs that are meaningful to us (and will hopefully be meaningful to other people, too!) - so overall… yes, we think it does! The playful and energetic anthem is a unique fusion of synth-y pop and pulsating rock instrumentation. Their debut single “Our Way,” released in late summer, quickly racked up 70,000+ streams on Spotify, putting them on the radar of many. Although a relatively new band in the game, Crownz’s identity is clear-cut, youthful, and a whole lot of fun. Everyone wants to stay young. Crownz is no exception. Comprised of 5 ambitious twenty-somethings - Karly, Bryce, Jake, Christian & DJ Crownz - this vibrant group has been graciously dubbed a modern day “Peter Pan & the Lost Boys," as their music illustrates love, pain and their shared fight against the threshold of adulthood. Continuing the trend, Crownz even defies the pseudo established laws of genres as their sound is not just relegated to a DJ spinning pop in the club circuit. Far from it. Their lyrics and music are a playful fusion of synth pop, EDM and trap combined with analog rock instrumentation to create a futuristic sound with a hint of ’80s lineage. Jarring synth arrangements, swoops and plucks of airy guitars, empowering vocals and clattering drum claps of a thousand drone armies defines their approach as modern and ambiguous enough to appeal to any rebellion. It should come as no surprise that Crownz matches their stellar sound with a perfectly formulated stage show including syncopated, detailed light displays and non stop energy permeating throughout their raucous performances. After undergoing a complete rebrand in the beginning of the year, QU!ET has evolved through trial and error, finding their guitar-driven sound through much experimentation. "Halo" is a personal and honest testament to their evolution - the track is their most poised and captivating song to date. Having built up a dedicated following on Long Island, QU!ET aims to rise with the release of "Halo". About the lyrical content of "Halo", vocalist/bassist AJay Hosking states: Halo is a song about being in an abusive relationship, At first I thought it wouldn’t be a good idea to write a song like that since it can be such an extremely heavy and uncomfortable topic, and I tried to change the theme of the song to an old western gunfight, like a high noon Mexican standoff, which was a fun idea but ultimately it didn’t turn out the way I thought it would. As I thought more about other things I could write, I kept coming back to that idea of trusting someone with all of your heart, who at first was perfect, and then one day they’re just treating you like utter garbage, and you realize that they’re just using you for their own amusement but you’re afraid to leave them, either because you don’t want to be alone or you’re afraid of what would happen if you did leave. QU!ET was formed in Long Island, New York by singer/guitarist/pianist Michael Scarabino, singer/bassist AJay Hosking, and singer/drummer Juliana Pitto. The band has been together since 2016 as a three-piece alternative rock band, and they combine each of their unique musical perspectives to craft their sound. As a band full of singers, they embrace three-part harmonies, and share lead vocal duties to express themselves personally. For the first two years of working together, the three went by the name “Scarabino,” due to Michael starting the project as a solo artist. As the sound and their musicianship evolved overtime, they collectively agreed that their name began to mislead their fans of their identity. On the morning of March 11th 2019, the band reintroduced themselves under their current name. The trio rapidly became known for their energetic and passionate live performances, and share the stage with extra musicians performing horn/wind instruments featured in their new music. Over the years they’ve performed with artists such as XEB (Ex Original Members of Third Eye Blind), Nonstop to Cairo, Will Wood and the Tapeworms, and VISTA. On May 17th 2019, QU!ET’s debut single “Fever Dream” was released, and the band continues to write and record music. "Halo" is available on all digital platforms NOW. Perfectly suited for fans of Avril Lavigne, Yellowcard, and Boys Like Girls, "How Does It Feel" perfectly represents the bands aura - a little bit of pop and a little bit of punk. You can't place Safety Net in a single box; their sound spans across a wide board, but still maintains focus. With "How Does It Feel," Safety Net treads new waters - although the song kicks off with a single acoustic guitar and vocal, the authentic and emotive build throughout the first chorus is well worth the short wait. About the single, the band states: “How Does It Feel?” is about being in a room full of people and feeling like you’re the only one there who isn’t okay. It’s about looking at all of the people who seem to be happy and have their lives together and wondering if they’re just wearing the same mask you are, or if you actually are the only one who doesn’t feel whole. Formed in the chaotic crosshairs of Atlanta, Georgia, Safety Net is comprised of vocalist Caroline Walden, guitarist Alex McIntyre, and drummer Ian Rowland. Making music described sometimes as pop-punk and sometimes as alt-rock, Safety Net's main focus is raw, honest lyricism that tells a story - the more personal, the better. Friends since Caroline's freshman year of college, Alex and Caroline formed Safety Net together in the winter of 2017, and recorded their inaugural EP "Wake Up" with Chris Senador of House Cat Records the following spring and summer. They were joined by drummer Ian in February of 2019, with Safety Net making its live debut at The Masquerade in June. Following the release of their first music video for debut single "Walls", the trio hit the studio once more, this time with Greg Hendler of GMH Audio. Their first record since 2017, "The Ruins" will be the first in a cohesive trilogy of EPs, the remaining two being titled "The Repair" and "The Revival" (release dates TBA). To coincide with the release of "The Ruins," VISTA will be playing an EP release show on Long Island the following day (10/26) at Amityville Music Hall; tickets can be purchased HERE. Diving into the waters of cinematic and active rock experimentation, the 5-track collection (which contains all previously unreleased songs) walks down a dark path leading to the band's 'ruins,' which will evolve into their revival by the end of the trilogy. VISTA is anything but dormant. Although more than two years have passed since their last record release (2017’s “Long Live”), the NY-based electronic alt-rock outfit have remained consistently active, having since completed five US tours, released four singles (including their highest-streamed song to date, “Witch Hunt”), shared the stage with Fearless Records’ Set It Off, and earned music video rotation in Journeys’ stores nationwide. The compelling duo, comprised of lead vocalist Hope Vista and guitarist Greg Almeida, has elevated the word ‘independent’ to their own playing ground, racking up half a million streams alone on Spotify. Their branding is hypnotizing; outside of their now-familiar black and blue color palette, VISTA continues to entrance listeners with their trademark electronic influences, tight-knit social media fanbase, and explosive live show. Their upcoming record “The Ruins,” slated for release on October 25th, will be the first in a trilogy of branded EPs. A distinct blend of active rock and cinematic pop, VISTA’s evolution since their inception in late 2015 is evident; while the band’s signature dark, synth-laden production is still present, “The Ruins” takes on notable experimentation and haunting lyricism. In conjunction with the release of “The Ruins,” VISTA will release a documentary exclusive to YouTube in early November, which will give viewers a rather intimate (and unconventional) look at a string of harrowing events that temporarily derailed the band since the release of 2017’s “Long Live.” With the upcoming release of “The Ruins,” VISTA is hardly at a climax; they are poised for a revival.
