![]() MASSACHUSETTS, USA | JULY 31ST, 2020 - Alternative rock/metal vocalist Jen Janet has released her new single "I Don't Belong," out on all digital platforms NOW. Released with a corresponding music video, "I Don't Belong" expands upon the goth-rock sound she presented on her previous single, "Possession." Falling down a continuous rabbit hole of evolution, she finds herself in a natural pocket of power on "I Don't Belong." Self-described as a ‘multimedia musical project,’ Jen Janet has long-term industry experience as both a solo artist and front woman, as well as in fashion, makeup, photography, and videography. Built upon darker imagery, her new music highlights a noticeable shift in genres - her last solo EP, released in 2017, was a focused pop record. "I Don't Belong" is both captivating and enticing - perfectly representative of where Jen Janet is at in her career. About the track, Jen states: The song I Don’t Belong was originally written a long time ago when I felt very lost. I wasn’t quite sure where my future was musically because I felt that everything I was working on was a dead end. I also felt like I did not really belong anywhere socially. I was living in the town I grew up in - it is a very small town in Massachusetts. I just didn’t fit in with most of the people there and although I appreciated the people around me, it was time to leave and explore other places, people, and things. Socially, a lot of the people I was hanging out with at the time were different from me and although they were kind to me, we had many different interests. I’ve always been somewhat introverted but I wanted to branch out and spend more time with people who have similar interests and world-views to my own, and feel more like I fit in. A self-described ‘multimedia musical project,’ Jen Janet is an ethereal goth-rock dream. As the lead vocalist of multiple metal bands (Mimesis, Novarium), she’s dipped her toes into many waters, and has shared the stage with international touring acts such as Saving Abel, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Motionless in White, Puddle of Mudd, Buckcherry, and many more. Jen’s artistry is built around her sheer passion for all things media, including photography and videography, which she integrates into her solo work. She has been a notable force around the New England music scene for some time, while simultaneously working as both a print and runway model for various brands, including Subaru. A true chameleon, Jen combines her many creative layers with darker imagery and symphonic sonic influences to create her current alternative-based style. Her new single “Possession,” released July 8th, highlights a return to her rock roots, after releasing a focused pop record in 2017. Jen Janet is finding her freedom in creation. BRICK, NJ | JULY 22ND, 2020 - New Jersey-based pop/rock band The Ones You Forgot have released their new single "Something For Me," available on all digital platforms NOW. Packed with an infectious energy, "Something For Me" is a true testament to the band's diversity. Their first release since playing at the 25th Anniversary of the Vans Warped Tour, "Something For Me" paints a vivid picture of self-love, symbolizing new beginnings and evolution. Released with a lyric video, "Something For Me" is a refreshing story of freedom, paired with refreshing elements of power pop and punk. About the new single, the band states:
“Something For Me embraces the freedom of escaping an unhealthy relationship, and the struggle that unfortunately comes along with it. It’s all about realizing the love you deserve and learning that it’s not fair for you to keep waiting for respect, especially when you repeatedly ask for it. One of the most frustrating parts, is when you still crave that person even when you know they are only killing you from the inside out.” A symbolization of purity and new beginnings, pop/rock band The Ones You Forgot are cleverly branding themselves with daisies. Their first single in two years, “Something For Me” (released July 22nd), represents a refreshing era of growth and self-love, while still maintaining the band’s familiar energy and zest. The track progresses in a personal and commanding fashion, delving into ambitious vocal melodies, pop maturity, and bold emo elements. Formed in 2014, the New-Jersey based quintet is no stranger to the stage, opening for national touring acts such as Sleeping With Sirens, Four Year Strong, and Grayscale, among others. Upon their inception, the band pulled inspiration from their peers, including State Champs and We Are The In Crowd, to cultivate a sonic diversity in their music. After being selected to play at the 25th Anniversary of the Vans Warped Tour in summer 2019, The Ones You Forgot continued to cement their brand, embracing the personability of Twitch and heavily engaging with fans through regular online streaming. The release of “Something For Me” represents a triumph, as the band roots themselves in a hook-studded, punky power-pop style. Vivacious, bouncy, and full of insight, The Ones You Forgot have their finger directly on the pulse. One of the most frustrating parts, is when you still crave that person even when you know they are only killing you from the inside out.” The Ones You Forgot is a pop rock band from Brick, NJ that was formed in 2014 after long-time friends and guitarists Ferdinand Benauro and Matt Thompson noticed remarkable covers on Instagram from vocalist Jenna Bruno. When the three had the chance to play together, they realized they were in the perfect spot to start a band and rounded out the group with the addition of Justin Rodman on drums and Lance Nelson on bass. The Ones Your Forgot kicked off their debut release the following year with Peaks & Valleys; however, it wasn’t until their "Make It Out Alive” single release in late 2016 that solidified their sound and structure. Drawing inspiration from acts including State Champs, We Are The In Crowd and All Time Low, the band combined their backgrounds to cultivate the diversity heard through their music. Taking some time to perfect their sound, the band spent the following year writing new music and playing shows, opening for artists such as Emarosa, Boys Like Girls, Four Year Strong, Never Shout Never, and Seaway, among others. Now the band has returned with a brand new EP, 'Too Afraid To Say', and it's available everywhere. Produced and mixed by Rob Freeman (Armor For Sleep, Hit The Lights) at Audio Pilot Studios and mastered by Rogue Planet Mastering, the EP tells a story of the elements that we are all afraid of, but too reluctant to vocalize to a loved one, a friend, or even yourself. Vocalist Jenna Bruno shares, “We want our listeners to know that feeling scared or vulnerable is okay, and everyone has their own unique way of overcoming it when the time is right.” After their appearance at the 25th Anniversary of the Vans Warped Tour in summer of 2019, The Ones You Forgot are ready to prove themselves with new music in 2020. Their first release of 2020, "Killdozer" is an ambitious vocal performance with biting lyrics concerning the pharmaceutical industry, delving into the complexities of addiction. Intertwined with dynamic instrumentation, the track takes listeners on a stirring ride, ranging from bouncy and energetic to driving and emotional. About the single, the band states: We recorded "Killdozer" with Seth Henderson at ABG Studios and I really think he brings out the best in us. We got up there with an idea and a message we want to get across and he turns it into art every single time. Our next collection of songs is the best we've ever written together and brought us closer together than ever before, as well as helping us grow and learn about ourselves along the way. We have high hopes for the future as we go into the release of "Killdozer". After releasing two songs in late 2017, Big Smile hit the ground running in 2018 with the release of their first EP 'When I Left Home,’ produced by Seth Henderson (Real Friends, Knuckle Puck, Sleep On It), which quickly gained recognition around the local Cincinnati/Dayton music scene. Shortly after a string of shows, including some with local heavyweights like Settle Your Scores, You vs. Yesterday, and Mascots, the band embarked on their first small tour which included shows with Abandoned By Bears and Youth Fountain. The Pop-Punk quintet returned to Always Be Genius Studios in late 2018 in preparation for their 2019 release 'Dependent,' which quickly gathered 100k streams on Spotify behind lead single, ‘Pillbox Hill.’ The single landed on multiple Spotify playlists such as Pop Punk's Not Dead and The Scene and opened the door for the band to tour as well as open for national acts such as State Champs, The Dangerous Summer, and Grayscale. After their late 2019 release of their video for the song 'Oscillate', which premiered on Live Nation's 'The Noise', Big Smile hit the road one last time before returning to ABG to record another batch of tunes set for release throughout 2020. Released with a corresponding music video, "Possession" shows a return to her natural goth-rock roots. Self-described as a ‘multimedia musical project,’ Jen Janet has long-term industry experience as both a solo artist and front woman, as well as in fashion, makeup, photography, and videography. Built upon darker imagery, her new music highlights a noticeable shift in genres - her last solo EP, released in 2017, was a focused pop record. "Possession" is an eerie, heavy, and ethereal track all wrapped up in one - perfectly representative of Jen's multi-faceted artistry. About the track, Jen states:
For Possession, this song and video illustrates the idea of belonging to someone, but through the idea of demonic possession. For example, you can “belong to” or be controlled by someone with more authority than yourself, and resent the person as a result. That was originally what the song was written about, and I decided that a fun way to visually represent this was with a demonic possession. I’ve always been fascinated by the supernatural and I watch many horror movies, so this was a fun way to explore the horror genre through music and video.
