LONG ISLAND, NY | MARCH 30, 2018 - After working through different lineup changes, Long Island pop punk quartet Break Out Day are premiering their new EP “Echoes Of The Past,” out TODAY. The EP highlights the growth of the band as a four piece, as all 4 songs showcase an evolution of sorts and emphasize on different elements of pop punk. Influenced by the genre’s veterans, including All Time Low and Simple Plan, the lead single “The Party’s Over” is the first Break Out Day track to feature both lead vocalist Brandon Wimberly and drummer Perry Dornbush. While the track “One More Night” incorporates more of an alternative style, “Too Bad You’re Lying’ is a reworked acoustic version of a track on their first EP. The band is playing multiple shows in the New York area to promote the “Echoes Of The Past”, including next’s week  4/7/18 date in Brooklyn (The Kingsland). About the record, the band states:

“Overall, the four songs on “Echoes of the Past” each serve a unique purpose in chronicling our evolution as a band. “The Party’s Over” is a high-octane, pop punk anthem complete with power chords and fast, double-bass drumming. “Deleted Imagery,” which features the band’s first true breakdown, rocks hard and heavy throughout. “One More Night,” the band’s lengthiest song to date, enters a bit of uncharted melodic and textural territory.  Last, but most certainly not least, “Too Bad You’re Lying (Acoustic)” is a callback to where this band came from and a reminder of how far we’ve come since.”

Break Out Day was started by identical twin brothers Andrew and Jason Weisbein in the summer of 2009 in the village of Roslyn on the North Shore of Long Island, NY. Influenced by artists such as blink-182, All Time Low, Fall Out Boy, Simple Plan, and Angels & Airwaves, Andrew and Jason spent the next few years writing original music and playing local shows. In May 2013, after filling in for a couple of shows, Perry Dornbush joined the band as their full-time drummer. They performed as a three-piece group for a while, but were eager to acquire a fourth member to serve as a permanent lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist. After adding a new member to fill that slot, the band hit the studio that summer to record their first official release. In September 2013, the band unleashed its sound in the debut EP “The Nights That Made It.” After the departure of that 4th member, the band spent three years searching and auditioning several candidates to fill that role. The band officially added Brandon Wimberly as its fourth member in November 2016. Now with a solid, four-member lineup, Break Out Day is performing, writing, and recording consistently all around the tri-state area. “Echoes Of The Past” is out NOW.

LONG ISLAND, NY | MARCH 30, 2018 -  After years of playing shows in the local New York area, Long Island veterans Hold Fast Hope are debuting their first EP, “Traitors,” out TODAY. The highlighted single “Fade” delves into themes of sadness, being stifled, in between, and uncertainty. To promote the record, Hold Fast Hope embarked on a 3-date weekender, which spanned across NY, CT, and PA. Although no release dates have been announced, the band plans on releasing a music video in the near future to promote, as well as hoping to tour in the summer and fall. About the record, the band states:

“Traitors PT I” came first in the writing process, the main riff was brought to us by our drummer, Dan, who had been sitting with a guitar for a little bit. His influence definitely made that the heaviest track on the record, by far. We had a blast in the studio with PT I while we were making different sound effects for the bridge section. All the extra noise you hear was us basically throwing around & smacking a guitar that was being processed through so many layers of reverb & modulation you couldn’t even tell what it was. The opener, “Ripple”, was written after we had met and started listening to the guys in Gates (Pure Noise Records). We wanted to write something that, although wasn’t as heavy or distorted, could carry the same emotional strength as the other EP tracks. “Fade” was without a doubt the single, it fell together so simply in the beginning and we were able to expand on it from there. In the studio, our producer decided he didn’t feel enough of a “punch” from the bridge section we had written at the time, so our guitarist, also named Dan, had to improvise something of a guitar solo on the spot, which really ended up tying the song together in the end.”

Hold Fast Hope came onto the Long Island scene in early 2016 when they released their debut single “Fortune Favors” with an accompanying music video directed & filmed by Samuel Halleen (Dance Gavin Dance, August Burns Red). From there the band has gone on to perform a number of shows across Long Island, NYC & New Jersey including performances at Citi Field opening up for a Mets game in the main rotunda and New Jersey Fringe Festival. The 4-piece's sound blends alternative and post-hardcore rhythms and melodies with an overlying ambient texture, with influences ranging from Thrice & Glassjaw to Foxing & Citizen. Hold Fast Hope recorded their debut 4-track EP ‘Traitors’ at VuDu Studios (Glassjaw, Gates, Hail The Sun) in Port Jefferson, NY with Dom Nastasi & Mike Watts. It is set to be released on March 30th on Downport Records. They released their first single from the EP, “Fade”, on February 1st ahead of their ‘Traitors’ EP Release Party at Revolution Music Hall in Long Island, NY. They followed with two more release shows in Phoenixville and Wallingford over the next two days. Currently the band is writing for follow up releases in 2018 and planning to tour through the Summer & Fall. “Traitors” is out NOW.

You are currently on a Southeast US tour. What was the process like to put this tour together? Did the band book it?
  • It was a lot of work but mainly manned by the booking queen of the earth Madison. We all have different set things we work on in the band from Dartanyan’s design and conceptual creativity to Dan and myself doing the social media, marketing and budgeting. But Maddie hooked up the booking for the entirety of this tour which was incredible on her end. She contacted all the venues, bands involved and set the dates and honestly we’re so lucky to have someone with such immense drive to tackle a job as hard as that. It was difficult because we weren't paired with another band accompanying us on the tour so getting venues, bands and promotions together for the tour was a lot. But I feel that it makes it that much more rewarding when as an independent artist you hit it hard and do the work. Helps you learn a lot. (Justin)
  • Yeah it was a lot of work but definitely super rewarding even after playing these first two shows in Tally and Fort Lauderdale. I had some fun researching the different markets in each city and finding cool venues to play in. (Madison)

  • Is there a particular show you’re most excited for?
  • I’m super excited for the Athens,GA show actually. Talking to a lot of bands we’ve played with in the past and they all say Athens is a super dope music scene so we’re all pretty excited. Also we get to couch surf with our brother and baby Cole Crossgrove who produced and mastered our album. Super excited to hang with that guy in ATL. (Justin)
  • I’m super excited for Charleston and the Athens show. Honestly every show I'm excited for because we’ve never been there so I’m curious to see what the scene is like in all those cities. Especially in Charleston cause that’s maddies hometown. (Dee)
  • I have family in Georgia so it’s always been a dream of mine to play there. The people of Athens and Savannah are always so nice and I look forward to giving them a great show! (Dan)

How have the shows been going so far?
  • The show in Fort Lauderdale with YouVandal and Florence & Normandie was a blast. Super hype crowd and awesome music. Getting to play with some bands that actually have a great sound is always fun. It was a smaller venue but sometimes it feels more at home like that. Also it’s majority of our bands hometown with me and Dee from south Florida and Dan from Miami so it was the first time we ever got to play down there for our family and friends. Awesome turn out with an incredible set. Next time we’re down there it's gonna be even more fun for sure. (Justin)
  • The shows have been going pretty well i’d say. We had a great turn out in Ft. Lauderdale at Two&. It was a really cool space and the owner was super helpful in the process. Cool environment with a sick concept. Club Downunder was fun too in Tallahassee. Got to play with Choir Boy and Soft Kill which was fun for us to hear some different unique bands. (Dee)
  • The shows have been going great. What can fans expect from your set?
  • They can expect us to tickle their ear drums and burst their cerebellum with the amount of raw energy and sounds we’re about to throw their way. A lot more new music that wasn't on the Subtle Spectres EP is going to be played on the tour and we think it's some of our best stuff yet. And it's only getting better so be prepared for some Wild shit. (Justin)
  • Expect a 30-40 minute set of our whole discography and a couple of new tunes we decided to premiere while we’re on road. One of which we’re planning on being our next single which we’re super excited for. (Dee)

Is there anything else you’re working on in 2018?
  • Yeah, we’ll be working on another EP and definitely have a single out by the time summer rolls around. Also keep an eye out for a music video coming very soon. We worked on some really fucking weird and cool ideas so watch out for Wild Planet to hop onto the YouTube grind very soon! Love you guys, and stay wild. (Dee)
  • Also in the process of booking a tour with with our friends houseparty. Check out their new single “This Is What We Do.” They are such immensely talented, beautiful people. (Madison)
  • We’re always working on new music. We try to write something everytime we’re together, even if it’s just a small idea we never return to. It lets us keep the creativity flowing and helps us hone in on a unified Wild Planet sound. We’ve got new originals and covers currently in the works that we’re excited to introduce into our set sometime in the near future. (Dan)

Æves talks new EP "Desire"

How would you describe Aeves’ sound?

Matt: I feel like our sound is ever changing in a way but we always stay in the vein of pop. Molly and I love pop music so much. The new EP is definitely very dream-pop.

Your new EP is coming out this month. Which song do you think defines Aeves to the fullest?

Matt: Loaded Love was really a staple for this record however I feel like the sound of our song Haunted will be a left turn for listeners! As well as the remix we have on the record as well.

Molly: Honestly, I feel like ‘Gettin’ Jiggy Wit It’ by Will Smith definitely defines us as a band. That’s all I have to say about that.

You also have an upcoming music video. How did you create that concept?
Matt: Honestly we sat down with the director and had a bunch of ideas for each other that already lined up. We knew we wanted to do a trippy music video. So all in all, we created the concept over cups of coffee and were good to go.

Will there be any other music videos coming out in the future?
Matt: Hopefully. It’d be cool to do a music video for Haunted…
Molly: Now I’m not saying we’re already in talks with a director to record another video, but...

Do you plan to tour to promote this record?
Matt: We would like to! We’re currently in the process in vamping up our live show with our live band. I’ll leave it at that there are shows in the works.
Molly: Yes, I guess you could say we’re planning things.

Why should people listen to Aeves?

Matt: Personally I feel like we have a unique sound going on. Molly’s vocals are really a driven force to be reckoned with. Combined with the dreamy instrumentals and heartfelt lyrics. I really think we’re doing our own thing and it’s something anyone should try listening to!

Molly: Because you want to. Your mom would approve of us too, probably. If you can’t decide on music to listen to when you have to ride with your parents, I think we might work.
