For fans of every start up punk band that has ever graced the stage at Warped Tour, let me introduce you to Underdog Champs. This Virginia based four-piece found its way to my inbox recently with an upcoming EP, Skeletons In Daylight, set to release the 24th of this month.
Though I can’t say the effort is anything overwhelmingly new or fresh, it is well done. Each track holds its own, there being seven total. With something catchy and specific, varying from song to song, you receive a broad spectrum of what Underdog Champs have to offer. A mixture of head bobbing beats and guitar driven hooks Skeletons In Daylight is your typical punk rock EP, but that makes it no less worthy of your time. As you flow from the opening track “Safe in the Dark” to the EP finale “Walls” you experience a few different emotions and find yourself connecting to every lyric. There is a relatable quality to the writing style and you can tell that these guys have a passion for their music and feel what they are playing. When asked about the album the band had this to say: "We feel incredibly lucky that the four of us get along so well, write so naturally together, and all strive to the best we can be. We don’t care if we are the biggest band; we just want to keep making songs that we are proud of." We recently shared the official music video for “Hear Me Out” , get yourself a taste of the Skeletons In Daylight EP and grab a copy when it releases!
