Not going to lie, when I first popped in the disc, I was nervous. I had never reviewed musical material itself, only shows and performances, so I felt a little unequipped. The first track laid it
all out for me though, and the musical style of I, Apollo was quickly spelled out within the first couple riffs. Hard core metal, it’s what they are all about. Heavy beats, hard hitting lyrics, powerful vocals- they’ve got it. As I found myself listening to the tracks over and over again, I was soon humming along to choruses and tapping to the rhythms, their music growing on me with each repeat. Their vocalist does an amazing job of transitioning from screaming to smooth vocals, adding diversity, while the musicians brutally powering through each song showing the true metal spirit of this band. I’d love to get the chance to see this group live, I’m sure a demo with this much energy would only lead to an equally energetic performance. I would defiantly recommend all my metalhead readers to check out I, Apollo and give these guys a bit of your time. Shannon Rae |
