LORD, the heavy metal group from Australia, hangs on to a classic style of rock and roll. Their music is very much so stuck in an 80’s hair band sort stage, but in a good way. We are often so worried about progression in today’s industry that we forget how great that classic rock and roll sound can be. They bring about a newness to an era that is nearly 40 years behind us and it’s fantastic! Pulling their inspirations from bands such as Dokken and Slayer, as well as Megadeth and Metallica the musicians of LORD blend hard rock and heavy metal into a concoction of head banging, longhorn worthy tracks. Sticking to the old school way of constructing a song, i.e. more music than lyrics, with loads of power chords and solos, their material is relentless. I can see most metal fans finding something to enjoy about the band and their way of keeping the energy thriving from the start of an album all the way through. Being on this journey for almost twenty-five years, frontman Lord Tim has obviously picked up a thing or two and has the experience to build a band set for success. True talent forged over the years and an excellent understanding of what makes metal music grind, you can hear the effort and passion put forth by the musicians and every song played is played with the intention to melt faces. I loved hearing a group that stuck to the root of their genre and built their sound around the basics. From young to old, if you are a metalhead I would strongly suggest you give LORD a listen.
