The rock scene has been saturated lately with pirotechniques and flashy laser shows, but that doesn’t always mean you are going to have a good time. Some of the most fun comes from keeping it simple and playing it heavy! Canadian rock band, Royal Tusk, got the memo and showed the Aquarium how to have a little extra fun without all of the added fluff. We got to spend some time on air with the band before their set while co-hosting The Side Stage show with Travis on 95.9 here in Fargo. Not to any surprise of mine, they were incredibly down to earth guys who just love making music. They performed an acoustic version of “Aftermath”, which showcased the impressive vocal talents of frontman Daniel Carriere and guitarist Quinn Cyrankiewicz, and their ability to harmonize seamlessly with one another. The song is very high energy and packs a punch when performed at its fullest, but there was a whole different kind of energy to it when stripped down. I believe there is something to be said about a band that can take a song off of the stage, perform it acoustically, and still have it translate the message.
