On tour with Dropkick Murphys, Clutch hit the chilly Bluestem Amphitheater stage in Moorhead, MN.

Minnesota music fans will just about brave any type of weather for a good show, and with an outdoor stage in temperatures barely above freezing they proved their hardiness as they rocked out to the diverse lineup Thursday. Clutch was the third act of the night, following Amigo the Devil who strummed an acoustic guitar and Hatebreed who encouraged fist pounding and headbanging. At a pace somewhere between these two, Clutch got to heat up the crowd right before Dropkick Murphys.

It was a slow trickle in, but by the time Clutch was ready to perform the concert bowl was packed and the seats were full, but no one was sitting. With an energy like that produced by Clutch’s stage presence, there was no way you could refrain from getting into the music.
Having 25 plus years under their belt, the four piece has developed the perfect blend of interaction and catchy riffs to hold the attention of an audience. Clutch are rock and roll storytellers. Their music is a narrative driven by heavy hitting instrumentals. They have a way of keeping an engagement from start to end, playing their set loud and proud. There is throbbing bass beats, grungy guitar and even a cowbell! Frontman Neil Fallon never stops moving the whole set lists. He gestures to the listeners while he sings as if he is trying to sell something, but they’re surely already hooked.
Their set was the perfect length with a great mixture of tracks from throughout their career such as their opening number from 2018, “How to Shake Hands” to 2004’s “The Mob Goes Wild”, and 2007’s “Electric Worry”.
