A night of nostolgia last night in Detroit Lakes as Eve 6 and SmashMouth rocked the 2019 Bash on the Beach stage.
Kicking off the evening, Eve 6 brought their lively punk vibe to the lake side.
It has been over 20 years since the band's debut album, and a handful of the members of the crowd had to have been big time fans for nearly just as long. Every word was sung back to them with the same level of excitement as the band itself was putting out. Moving amongst the stage, the energy level between Collins and Hilzinger was cool to see as it showcased the many years of playing together and the flow they have developed over that time.
Saving the best for last, Eve 6 closed their time on stage out with their hit "Inside Out". The audience lost it as the first note came across the speakers.
This song  gave them their success and despite the fact that they could easily be tired of it, they performed it with a love for it that matched the fans.

The crowd was buzzing with excitement, and possibly a bit of alcohol, as they waited for Smash Mouth to take the stage. The hype escalted 10 fold when the music started and the band emerged. Smash Mouth has always been about fun, making them a perfect act for an event such as this. Every one was bouncing and bobbing throughout the whole set, singing along with every party anthem thrown at them.
The crowd interaction was on point, with lead singer Steve Harwell spending most of his time engaging with everyone in the front row. Multiple comments were made in particular to the group of girls wildly dancing against the barrier. At one point in the night the call for "ladies on the stage" rang out, leading to a dozen intoxicated women stumbling over the barricade for their 3 minutes of fame.
The set was full of their best and most well known, including their 2000's punk infused covers of "Why Can't We Be Friends" and "I'm a Believer", as well as funky tunes such as "The Fonz" and "Getaway Car". To no surprise they rouded the night off with their hit "All Star", which Harwell introduced by saying "I expect you all to sing along to this one!".
Smash Mouth and Eve 6 put on a great show, and definietly brough the summer 'bash' to the beach!
