Crown of Iron started out as the band 21 Guns in 2011. Original line up was Craig as lead vocals, Joey D. as guitar and vocals, Ronnie B. as base and vocals and various drummers. Then when a new drummer was added things began to take shape. And with the addition of the guitarist Ray U. The line up seemed to be solid. As they were working on their debut CD original guitarist Joey D. decided to leave. After a brief hiatus Craig, Ray, and bassist Chad started to put the band backtogether. After auditioning several guitar
players, it was agreed that they would remain a four piece
band without a second guitar player. And Crown of Iron was
                                                                               born.

I had the pleasure of being asked to sit in on a practice with
these guys and thoroughly enjoyed their set list. With an
upcoming show in May, Crown of Iron opening for Saving
Abel, they have been dedicated to polishing up each song,
putting quite a bit of time in. After listening to just the first
few songs, I was eager to hear more. They have great
sound, even with lead singer Craig being sick, they pulled it
off. There was such a cool vibe in the room as they played
together. Everyone took their positions seriously, but
allowed there to be this casual atmosphere at the same
time. Each musician is incredibly talented and unique in form
and technique, yet they all smoothly collaborate.
Crown of Iron has a really catchy sound, somewhere in the
middle of old school and new age metal. Their line up was
complete with great riffs, killer beats and edgy vocals. I
would definitely encourage you all to give them a listen!
Head on over to their Facebook page and check out some
the songs they have posted there. And catch them live,
either April 30th at Twin Peaks or May 2nd at Hooligans in
                                                                              Jacksonville!
