Within Reason is currently on the road with Hinder and we had a chance to check out their set when the tour made its way to The Fargo Theatre. This group proves hard work paired with heart and passion for your art form really does pay off. We recently did an online interview with frontman Chris Dow, which you can read below! SR: Loved your set list! You did a cover of Linkin Park’s “Lost in the Echo”, what about that song made you want to have it in the mix?
CD: We love the energy of the song and the lyrics seemed to fit everything we have going on and have been through. If you believe in yourself and work hard don't worry about what others say and those words get Lost in the Echo. Paul Bear Bryant once said "If you listen to the people in the stands long enough eventually you will find yourself sitting with them". It's very true! SR: You guys have been making music for ten years now, have been featured on films and video games, toured with a handful of amazing bands and had a Grammy experience, what is one thing that you have yet to do that you still really want to see happen? CD: I know we are all looking forward to touring overseas. Europe, Asia, and Australia are at the top of the list for now. SR: What are your plans for 2016? Any plans to hit the studio? CD: We are going in the studio immediately after this tour to record the new record and hope to have the first single to radio in March. SR: So what is the story behind the band? How did you form and how did the name come about? CD: When we first formed the band we used a house on the southside of downtown Birmingham to rehearse. The cops were called on us pretty regularly. It always seemed to be the same officer and he informed us as long as we stayed Within Reason we were good. That seemed to stick with us over the years. SR: You guys are an independent group and kind of underdogs so to say, what has been the biggest challenge you all have overcome? CD: The biggest challenge we have faced being independent is finding the financial means to keep moving forward and grow the band/business. Every business takes money to make money and we haven't had the luxury of any rich relatives or "label" paying for us. Labels also use their political power and leverage to try and "blow job" their bands into certain situations. In our case it's been only about the music and a band with fans. Overcoming the daily adversity has made us stronger and more appreciative of every step we climb. We were all raised in an eat what you kill household and have never been given anything in life. We have had to earn everything we have accomplished and that has made us the band we are today. We are blessed in many ways and proud of where we are today. We didn't just get here - We got here! Everyday is still a challenge. We will take it one day at a time SR: What advice do you have for other bands in the same situation? CD: My advice to any band is follow your heart. If your heart isn't 100% in to following your dream then do something else. Truth is it's a race to the bottom before you can even see the top and if your heart isn't in it you will give up before you even get a glimpse of the top. Truth is, everyone has dreams. Very few people in this world have the brains and guts to follow their dreams down the hard ruff roads that lead to success. Your dedication will determine your own destiny. SR:Thank you for answering our questions! We look forward to hearing more from you all! Full photo coverage of Within Reason here!
