New Jersey's, The Stolen, took some time to talk to us after their recent tour. Check it out below! Shannon Rae: You guys have been compared to the 1975 and The Maine. Were these bands you looked to for inspiration or is the similarity coincidence?
Dom Cuce: They are definitely bands that we listen to but I wouldn't say we solely look to them for inspiration. We listen to so many different artist from so many different era's. At the end of the day we are making music that is honest to ourselves. SR: So give us a general idea of who The Stolen is. How did you guys get together and what is the meaning behind the name? DC: I guess you could say we formed when we were about 10 years old. I moved to NJ when I was three years old, Mike and Rob were my neighbors and we became really good friends. Their father was always into music and playing in bands so he got Mike and Rob involved with music at a young age and that rubbed off on me. Eventually we started playing block parties and all that stuff. As we got older we started to write our own music and tour year round. I wish we had a cool meaning behind our name but we really don't. When we first started playing parties we didn't have a name, so our old bass player said the name and we thought it sounded cool and it stuck. SR: You recently released an EP, I’m So Dead, what did you hope to translate about the band to the fans through this effort? DC: When making this EP, we wanted to create a record that was honest and true to ourselves and show who we are as people and translate that to our fans. SR: What is your favorite song on the EP? DC: Collectively, I would say "Im So Dead," or "Can't Get Enough. SR: What was the concept behind the music video for “I’m So Dead”? DC: When coming up with the concept for "I'm So Dead" we wanted to have a simple, visually appealing video with a cool vibe. SR: You were out on tour with Mike Schiavo, did you learned anything from being on the road with him? DC: Touring with Mike was awesome, he's been a friend of ours for a while so it was great to have him in the road with us. SR: And last question, are there any other tours in the plans? DC: We are always planning to tour, we love getting out on the road and seeing our fans. We are going to be playing So What Festival in Texas this fall, as well as a few college shows but there will definitely be a tour in the near future.
